Biography
Guilherme Nelson DeSouza is an assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Missouri—Columbia. Winner of Purdue's Honeywell Teaching Award and the Maria Canto Neuberger Research Award, DeSouza came to Missouri after working as a research scientist at Purdue University and as a senior lecturer at the University of Western Australia. He also worked for 10 years at the Brazilian Power Systems Research Centre on research involving distributed and real-time systems for supervisory control and data acquisition and artificial intelligence for diagnosing power systems. DeSouza is currently setting up a new laboratory, the Vision-Guided and Intelligent Robotics Lab, which will focus on new human-computer interfaces for intelligent surveillance and automation.
