Biography

Dong Xu is chair and James C. Dowell professor in the Computer Science Department and Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri—Columbia. Xu also is a core faculty member of MU's Biomedical and Health Informatics Research Training Program and a part-time faculty member for the Department of Energy Higher Education Research Experience at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for Distinguished Visiting Scientists and Faculty. Xu previously worked as a research associate and staff scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and in 2001 received the R&D100 award presented by R&D Magazine in recognition of the year's 100 most significant technological innovations. Xu's research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Agriculture, the National Institutes of Health, the MU start-up fund, Ceres, Inc., the Monsanto Research Fund and the UM Research Board Fund.
