MU-ACM

Association for Computing Machinery

MU-ACM

The Association for Computing Machinery, or ACM, is a nationally based, locally segmented association for workers and students in the fields of computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, and other related fields.

Locally, universities and employers sponsor academic and professional chapters who strive to accomplish more specific goals for their more limited membership. MU-ACM is one such chapter. Our goals for this academic year and the future are the education of our members and potential members as to their future careers in technological fields as well as their current scholastic careers here at the University of Missouri - Columbia.

To these ends, we hold monthly meetings and other events, intended to enlighten, broaden, and enhance the minds of our members. We encourage all those of you who have interest in these areas to join our ranks of students, faculty, and professionals and let us guide you - as you guide us - into tomorrow.

CSGSC

Graduate Student Council

CSGSC

The Computer Science Graduate Student Council (CSGSC) consists of elected representatives from the Computer Science department and no faculty is involved during the election. The CSGSC is primarily concerned with promoting the general welfare and concerns for the computer science graduate student body, and communicating with the faculty and administration on their behalf. We encourage and are working on improving communication amongst graduate students, and increasing graduate student involvement in formulating policies that affect them. The CSGSC also sponsors many social, cultural, and fun events throughout the entire year to help maintain the mental stability of computer science graduate students and enrich their academic lives at Columbia. Dr. Yi Shang is our current faculty advisor.

CFAC

Coding for a Cause

CFAC

Coding for a Cause is a service organization that specializes in technical volunteer work. Our aim is to help our community and the world at large by applying our knowledge of computer science and information technology. We actively work to help altruistic non-profit organizations better accomplish their mission through technology and to close the digital divide in Columbia and the world. What we do includes putting on events to benefit the community and developing websites and providing technical assistance for altruistic non-profit organizations around Columbia.

Coding for a Cause gives members a unique opportunity to make a difference while practicing what they already know and learning new things. While we are an organization that centers on coding, anyone that is interested in web or application development or graphic design is welcome to join. Visit our website for contact information and meeting times and locations.
